REPORT: Stolen deputy’s gear found in Dayton trashcan

DAYTON — Gear reported stolen in Fairborn from a Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy was found in a Dayton trashcan.

On Friday, a deputy reported that some of his gear was stolen from the back of his truck in Fairborn.

The gear, which included a turtle riot suit, riot baton, riot helmet, duty bag, hazmat bag, gas mask, GPS and jackets, was kept in two storage bins, according to the report.

Late Sunday morning, a man in the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue reportedly found three deputy jackets when he went to throw some wood in the trashcan behind his garage.

While police were searching the area for additional evidence, they found the two storage bins.

The riot gear, gas mask and GPS were not found.

Police noted that there were security cameras at a neighboring home and spoke to a man who said he saw a man coming from the property and throwing items in the trashcan, according to report.
