Springfield man shot, killed at Knights of Pythias lodge

SPRINGFIELD — A 26-year-old man was identified as the victim of a fatal shooting at the Knights of Pythias in Springfield early Sunday morning.

Stephen Wagner, of Springfield, died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds at the fraternal organization,  according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Police and medics responded to the lodge at 610 South Yellow Springs Street around 2:45 a.m. Sunday after the shooting was reported.

A woman, who asked not to be identified out of fear for her safety, said she witnessed the incident and was near the victim when he was shot.

“Nobody was expecting for that to happen. We just came here to have a good time and then he was gunned down,” the woman said.

Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide, but have not released additional details on their investigation.
