Masked man with steak knife attempts to rob Vapor Haus in Dayton

Two Vapor Haus employees chased after a robber who dropped stolen money in the parking lot as he fled the electronic cigarette shop Wednesday night.

They said the man, in his 30s wearing a black mask, had a steak knife when he entered the shop at 617 Watervliet Ave. in Dayton and demanded money around 8:45 p.m. One worker said he “shoulder-checked” the robber when he reached in to grab money.

He didn’t get any cash, but took a bunch of coins and ran out the door with two workers in pursuit. The robber dropped the change as he took off running. He later got into an older model gold vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet or GMC Suburban, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.
