Vehicle crashes into billboard pole after Trotwood shooting; Car on scene pierced by several bullets

TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 11:30 a.m.:

The Trotwood Police Department were in the area of Salem Avenue near Wolf Road responding to another call when they heard gunshots south of Wolf Road around 1:15 a.m.

Officers investigated the source of the gunshots and found a vehicle crashed into a billboard support pole between two buildings, according to a report from the Trotwood Police Department.

The vehicle occupants had exited the vehicle and were hiding in the yards behind the businesses when officers arrived.

Both subjects were injured, but none of their injuries were life-threatening. The driver suffered injuries from the crash and the front seat passenger suffered a single gunshot wound.

Both were transported to a local hospital.

Trotwood Police are continuing to investigate the incident. They have not yet identified any suspects.

INITIAL REPORT:

Police are investigating at the scene of a shooting in the 4000 block of Salem Avenue.

Dispatch records said that an officer self-dispatched to the scene, and a K9 unit was called to help search for suspects. However, eventually the search was called off and the K9 unit was dismissed.

Records initially said that police took someone into custody, but officials clarified that nobody had been arrested, but that two people were taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

Police scanner traffic said that officers were on the way to a different call in the area when they heard shots being fired and found a shooting victim. Medical scanner said that they found a second shooting victim in the area.

Our crew on the scene reported seeing a black car that was crashed between two buildings, with several bullet holes in it, estimating at least eight to nine. The people injured in the shooting were in this car, officials said.

The conditions of the two shooting victims are not known.

Our crew reported that Salem Avenue has closed between Curundu Avenue and Annapolis Avenue while police investigate.
