Break-in investigation

Police responded to an alarm around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday at A&B Stop Rite Foods, 4675 Hoover Ave. in Dayton.

When police arrived, they found a large hold chopped out into the north facing concrete wall. A security camera was spotted on the ground that had been on top of the northeast corner of the business. Also, a power box at the rear of the store had been tampered with and it looked like someone tried to pry open a side door, according to a Dayton police report.

Surveillance video showed that the suspects, two men wearing gloves, caps and heavy clothing, had been working on breaking out the hole since 11 p.m. Monday before they made their way into the store.

They used the pickaxe to knock down the security camera and stole seven boxes from the store containing lottery ticket displays and tickets, the report stated.
