SPRINGFIELD — A 48-year-old Springfield man is charged with his fifth OVI offense.
Gordon C. Taylor was arrested Aug. 7 after he was pulled over for speeding on Urbana Road near Moorefield Road in Moorefield Twp. During the traffic stop, a trooper smelled alcohol and noticed that Taylor had slurred speech, according to a Wednesday night release from the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A breath test showed Taylor’s blood-alcohol concentration was .145 percent, according to the patrol. Ohio’s legal driving limit is 0.08 percent.
A records check showed that Taylor’s license was under an OVI-related driving suspension.
He had prior OVI convictions in 2017, 2006, 2002 and 1992, all in Clark County, the patrol stated.
Taylor, who pleaded not guilty, has a pretrial hearing set for Sept. 17 in Clark County Municipal Court.
