A man was arrested for OVI after a pursuit and struggle to capture him that left the man naked, according to a release from the De Graff Police Department.
According to the release, an officer investigated a suspicious vehicle around 2:10 a.m., which had fresh damage to its passenger side and was parked at the De Graff Creamery on Cretcher Street.
The driver was identified as Alexander Scott, 22, of Quincy, Ohio. According to the release, the officer smelled alcohol, and Scott admitted to drinking that evening, so the officer administered a field sobriety test.
When the officer told Scott he was under arrest and started to handcuff him, Scott pulled away and ran on foot. The officer pursued and tackled him behind a business, where the two fought for several minutes before the officer successfully handcuffed Scott.
During the struggle, the release says, Scott’s clothes were ripped off, leaving him naked. Scott was escorted to the nearby cruiser and covered with a blanket.
Scott was charged with OVI, resisting arrest and obstructing official business. He was booked into Logan County Jail.
Scott’s blood alcohol level was twice Ohio’s 0.08 legal driving limit, according to the release, and he admitted to hitting a guard rail somewhere between Quincy and DeGraff.
