Deputies: Robber shoots older man in leg, hand for his wallet, cellphone

HARRISON TWP. — UPDATE @ midnight

A robber shot an older man in his right hand and left leg during a tussle over the man’s wallet and cellphone, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and medics were called around 8:40 p.m. to the 2400 block of Wheeler Avenue.

The gunshot victim, described as “elderly” by the sheriff’s office, was shot by a younger male during a struggle and was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

A K-9 responded to the scene but attempts to track the suspect were unsuccessful, deputies said. The robbery remains under investigation.

A man was shot twice tonight: once in his right hand and also in his leg.

Medics and deputies were called around 8:40 p.m. to the 2400 block of Wheeler Avenue on a report of a shooting.

The gunshot victim was sitting up and talking when crews arrived. He was taken to Grandview Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, Harrison Twp. fire crews said.

A K-9 was tracking the area to find a suspect, who was described as a male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt who was last seen running toward Hillcrest Avenue, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
