Power of social media helps Kettering solve hit-and-run

KETTERING — UPDATE @ 4:30 p.m. (Oct. 11):

Kettering police said within 20 minutes of a Facebook post on Wednesday asking for help to identify a hit-and-run suspect, the driver was ID’d.

Later that day, the driver came to the Kettering police station to accept responsibility for his actions. His name was not released.

“Great work and thank you for you quick response. Keep watching for photos and videos to help us solve crimes impacting our city, citizens and your neighbors,” police said today.

Police are turning to social media to help solve a hit-and-run crash.

The driver of a pickup truck, shown above, is the suspect who backed into a parked car in front of Circle K the morning of Sept. 12 at Regent Street and West Dorothy Lane, according to the Kettering Police Department.

The driver left without identifying himself, police said.
