A 36-year-old man was shot in the leg early Sunday while walking through the Desoto Bass Apartments in Dayton.
The victim, Rashem Jermaine Jones, was taken at about 3:15 a.m. to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound in his right thigh, according to a Dayton police report.
A little more than three hours hours later, Jones was booked into the Montgomery County Jail, right after he was discharged from the hospital. Police said Jones was wanted for an unrelated burglary.
Prior to the call for someone being shot, police received calls about shots being fired in the area of Danner Avenue and West Stewart Street.
Police said at least 20 shell casings from three different guns were found at the entrance to the parking area in the 1700 block of West Stewart.
Jones told police he heard the shots but didn't see the shooter.
