Dayton man faces 2 felony charges in January fatal shooting case

DAYTON — A Dayton man arrested following a deadly shooting last month was indicted this week on two felony charges in connection to the case.

Kennar J. Woods, 34, is charged with tampering with evidence and having weapons under disability for a prior drug conviction, according to a Montgomery County grand jury report released Tuesday.

He remains on electronic home detention after posting bond and was issued a summons to appear March 5 for arraignment, court records show.

At the time of Woods’ arrest following the Jan. 11 shooting at an apartment on Germantown Street, Dayton police identified him as a person of interest in the killing of 35-year-old Brandon L. Cunningham of Dayton. Woods initially was booked into jail in January on suspicion of homicide, but he is not charged in Cunningham’s death.
