Victim identified in Dayton apartment argument that ended in deadly shooting

Police are investigating after a 21-year-old Dayton man was shot to death during an argument with another man in the 500 block of West Norman Avenue late Tuesday night.

The victim was identified as Aron Sanders, according to Montgomery County Coroner Kent Harshbarger.

Officers have not yet identified a suspect.

The victim was dead when police and medics arrived at the scene, said Sgt. Chad Knedler of the Dayton Police Department.

“Homicide’s investigating all angles right now,” he said.

Dayton police and medics were dispatched to the scene just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

A 911 caller reported hearing two men arguing just before a shot rang out.

“I just heard some men arguing outside and I heard a gunshot,” a woman told a 911 dispatcher.

She said she did not see anything, but could hear it from her home.

“I could hear somebody yelling and I could hear the gunshot,” she said.

Police were back out on West Norman around 11:30 a.m. after an officer in the area found a gun.  An evidence crew and multiple detectives also were there, however it’s not clear whether it was connect to the homicide investigation.
