Clerk shot during robbery at Fairfield AmeriStop released from hospital

FAIRFIELD — UPDATE @ 11 a.m.:

A clerk at AmeriStop this morning said the clerk who was shot in the arm Saturday night has been treated and released from the hospital.

The clerk said the two robbers were on foot and probably ran to the nearby apartments or woods behind the convenience store. The store is open today, but the restrooms are closed, he said.

INITIAL REPORT:

One person is in the hospital after being shot during a robbery at the AmeriStop on Woodridge Boulevard in Fairfield, according to a release from the Fairfield Police Department.

The release said that at 11:14 p.m. last night, two unknown males wearing dark clothing and masks entered the store brandishing firearms.

They took an unknown amount of cash and shot one of the clerks.

The clerk was taken to University Hospital in Cincinnati.

This shooting remains under investigation.
