NEW INFO: City of Dayton vehicle hit on 35 while crew filled potholes

DAYTON — A car rear-ended a city of Dayton truck that was being used to assist with filling potholes on U.S. 35 this morning, closing the highway for about an hour.

Officers responded to the crash in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 35 just before 11 a.m.

Police said none of the city workers working were injured in the crash, however three people from the car that rear-ended the city truck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A second vehicle also was hit during the crash while trying to avoid the initial collision, but no one in that vehicle was injured.

Police shut down the highway until around noon.
