The festival was originally scheduled to take place at the RiverScape MetroPark in downtown Dayton, July 3.

“The city doesn’t foresee the social distancing requirements implemented by the state to be reduced in time for the celebration,” said a release.

All activities associated with the event, including food vendors, live entertainment and the fireworks display are also cancelled.

The city will not be rescheduling the event.

“We are sad to miss out on opportunities for celebration this summer, but unfortunately festivals do not lend themselves to social distancing,” said Mayor Nan Whaley.
