Speed, inattention ruled cause of a motorcycle crash that took 1 by CareFlight

MAD RIVER TWP — UPDATE 10 p.m.:

Ohio State Highway Patrol reports speed and inattention to be the cause of the motorcycle-involved crash that took one man by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital Saturday night.

Nick Brandon, 52, of South Charleston, was travelling east on Dayton Springfield Road when he rear-ended a car that had stopped and was waiting to turn left on South Tecumseh Road.

Brandon was ejected and was not wearing his helmet which was found in the trunk of his motorcycle.

UPDATE 8 p.m.:

The driver and passenger of a car involved in a motorcycle crash in Mad River Township is uninjured.

Crews remain on scene and one lane of Dayton Springfield Road is closed.

FIRST REPORT:

CareFlight has been called to the scene of a crash reported around 6:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of Dayton Springfield Road in Mad River Township.

Initial reports indicate a motorcycle and minivan were involved in the crash.
