Tips on boat safety as warm weather continues

Many like to take advantage of these warm days by going boating, but it’s important to remember boating can come with risks.

A man is recovering tonight after being taken to the hospital by CareFlight Friday when he was pinned by his car on a boat ramp.

News Center 7’s Monica Castro talked with one Springfield man who boats often at Buck Creek State Park where the incident happened.

“The ramps are slick and they’re always going to be slick just be careful of your footing,” said Steve Storck of Springfield. “The biggest thing is make sure you have shoes on.”

He also recommends always being aware of what is on the dock before loading or unloading.

“It’s nice to have two people where you put someone in the boat and then you can unhook your boat and they can drive it off your trailer,” he said.
