Power restored after high winds, tornadoes whip through the Miami Valley

Thousands of Dayton Power and Light customers were without power in the Miami Valley as storms and wind whip through the area, according to DP&L officials.

Officials said that at the peak, just under 8,000 people were without power due to the weather Saturday night, with the most significant damage being in the Troy and Wilmington area. However, when DP&L spoke to us, that number had been cut down to below 2,000.

Officials said that they had a “huge contingent” of people working in specialized crews to assess and repair the damage, consisting of 400 people working in the field and a further 100 inside.

As of Monday morning, power had been restored to all DP&L customers.

Finally, officials asked that as their customers wake up  and find they are in the dark or that there are wires down in the area, they should call DP&L to report the outage.
