Still no arrests 2 years after pregnant woman shot and killed in Springfield

Sunday, March 1, 2020, marks two years since a pregnant woman from Springfield was shot and killed, and still no arrests or charges have been filed in connection to the murder.

Lindzie Wilson was shot from behind in her front yard along Oak Street in Springfield on March 1, 2018. At the time of the shooting, Wilson was 16-weeks-pregnant. She was put on life support for nearly two months until she gave birth to a baby boy. Wilson also had two other little boys.

“It breaks my heart. She should be here,” Lindzie’s mother, LeighAnne Roberts, said. “She was my best friend. We talked about everything. I feel alone at times.”

NewsCenter 7’s Katy Andersen talked to Roberts who said she is still hoping to get closure and find out who killed her daughter.

“I know it’s hard to come forward and say stuff because you’re afraid of retaliation, but if you could see my grandsons and how they cry for their mom, and just know the hurt they are going through – you might come forward,” Roberts said.

No arrests or charges have been made in the case.

Roberts said she is planning a vigil for her daughter at the home she was shot at on Sunday at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
