HARRISON TWP. — Northridge school district is asking the community to help students begin a successful school year by sending letters of encouragement.

The school is looking for 1,500 letters addressed to students in grades pre-k through 12.
After the Memorial Day tornadoes, the community is no stranger to hard times.

The start date for this local school district was later than normal this year due to construction and, after the tornadoes in May, the start date was pushed back even further.
Students who attend Northridge are scheduled to begin class on Sept. 23, giving the community some extra time to write letters for students to help them hit the ground running in September.
