Highland Cemetery gravestone damaged over the weekend

A gravestone was damaged over the weekend at the Highland Cemetery--located at 723 Upper Miamisburg Road.

What was supposed to be a normal visit to this cemetery to visit a loved one, turned into a shocking discovery. Craig Weaver passed away over a decade ago, but the pain felt by his mother--Ramona Dennison--is back after what she saw at his grave site Sunday evening. “It hurt all over again. The pain, like they opened it up, all over,” said Dennison.

A few  years ago, someone put a plaque on Weaver’s grave site, but then they found it smashed and crumbled into pieces. “My son never did nothing to no one...for this to be done...it’s just sad,” said Dennison.

Weaver’s widow, Krisha Weaver, is who made the discovery of this plaque. “Have a little respect for the cemetery. Have a little respect for the dead’s family,” said Weaver.

The family has since filed a police report with the Miamisburg police. They have also reached out to the Highland Cemetery, but haven’t heard back from them yet.

Now the family is looking to clean up the grave site and buy a headstone.
To whoever might have caused this damage, "What you did...you hurt...you need to stop," said Dennison.
