Crews worked throughout the night and into Monday morning to put out fire located in a grain bin in the 10500 block of U.S. 127 north of state Route 47 in Ansonia.

Flames were still showing around 3:45 a.m., but by 10 a.m. crews were being released from the scene.

The grain bin reportedly holds about 9,000 bushels, but was only half full at the time of the fire.

The owner told News Center 7 that the bin is only four years old and that it is insured.

He said his yield this season was probably just over 50% of the normal yield.
