SPRINGBORO — UPDATE @ 9:45 a.m. (June 29):

The Warren County Coroner’s Office has identified the child who died after a reported accidental shooting Friday night in Springboro.

Georvonie Campbell, 6, died from a gunshot wound on Royal Drive in Springboro around 11 p.m. Friday, according to the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

Campbell’s death is officially listed as pending and remains under investigation by the Springboro Police Department, a coroner’s office spokesperson told News Center 7.

A preliminary investigation also found the child shot himself with a gun owned by his grandmother, police said. The boy’s father told investigators he was sleeping and woke up to the sound of a gunshot.

No charges are currently pending in the investigation, and any potential charges would be subject to review by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, Springboro Police Chief Jeff Kruithoff told News Center 7 Monday.

Previously, police said the victim of the incident was 5-years-old, however the child’s age was corrected by the coroner’s office Monday morning.
