Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post were dispatched at 12:31 p.m. on initial reports of a crash in the 4000 block of West National Road, according to an OSHP spokesperson.

A preliminary investigation found a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck and Honda Accord were parked off the side of the road when a 2023 Toyota Camry struck the rear end of the Accord, which went into the truck.

One of the truck’s occupants was out of the vehicle to retrieve a wheelchair from the bed, which place him between the truck and Accord. He was pinned between the vehicles, the spokesperson said.

Medics were able to free him and transport him to the hospital via CareFlight for serious injuries.
