Coronavirus: Dozens at Lane Bryant headquarters in Columbus being laid off

COLUMBUS — Lane Bryant Purchasing Corp. is laying off 188 workers from from its Columbus location at 3344 Morse Crossing, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (“WARN”) Act filed through the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.

The layoffs are to begin Oct. 2 or Oct. 30 or the 14-day periods beginning with those dates. The layoffs are expected to be permanent, but the facility will remain open, Maria Baldwin, Lane Bryant executive vice president and chief human resources officer, said in a letter to Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther and John O’Grady, president, Franklin County Commissioners.

Because the company -- Ascena Retail Group, Inc., Catherines, Inc., Catherines Stores Corporation, Lane Bryant, Inc., and Lane Bryant Purchasing Corp. -- does not recognize bumping rights for its associates, terminated associates are not permitted to displace any remaining associates based on seniority or any other factor.

None of the employees at this site is represented by a union, Baldwin said.

There are 23 Lane Bryant locations in Ohio, including Beavercreek, Hamilton, Mason and Monroe.
