Suspect in Middletown shooting is in custody, police say

MIDDLETOWN — UPDATE @ 10:12 p.m. (June 4): Daniel Calhoun, sought by authorities in a Middletown shooting last month, has been captured, police said.

Officers found Calhoun hiding in the basement of the victim’s home, in the 1300 block of Young Street, about 5:43 p.m.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of a man wanted in a Middletown shooting this month.

Middletown police requested the assistance of the Cincinnati Office of the ATF to locate Daniel Calhoun, who is wanted in a May 14 shooting in the area of Young Street in Middletown.

Calhoun is also known as Javion Houghley, according to Middletown police.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Calhoun on charges of felonious assault and weapons possession as a felon.

He is considered armed and dangerous, police and ATF officials said, so please do not approach him.
