Man charged in Dayton steak-knife  attack

DAYTON — A 24-year-old man accused of stabbing a woman with a steak knife was indicted Monday.

James L. Leslie III is charged with two counts of felonious assault and is scheduled to be arraigned July 12 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Leslie has been held without bail in the Montgomery County Jail since the May 17 incident at a residence in the 100 block of Missouri Avenue.

A woman described as Leslie’s girlfriend was found covered in blood, screaming and running in the street without pants before she collapsed, according to a Dayton police report.

The woman was stabbed multiple times, including in the neck, and said it happened at her residence while her two young children were inside.

Police found one young child running in an alley, covered in blood, but the blood was from his mother and neither child was injured, according to the report.
