BERKELEY, Calif. — Skeletal human remains were reportedly found in a vacant building residential hall complex about a mile from the main campus of the University of California Berkeley.
The University of California Berkeley officers had reportedly responded to reports of a skeleton that was found inside a building at the Clark Kerr Campus on Tuesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The building is a residential hall complex and event space that UC Berkeley police said has not been occupied in a while, the newspaper reported.
KTVU reported that the human remains are “skeletonized.”
It is unclear how long the remains were in the Clark Kerr Campus, UC Berkeley police said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press. There are no outstanding missing person cases from the Berkeley campus.
The Alameda County coroner will determine a cause of death, according to the AP.
The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are working to identify the remains.
