Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources invests nearly $7M to trails

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has approved nearly $7 million in grants for trails.

The Clean Ohio Trails Fund grants are to improve outdoor recreational opportunities, and 19 of those grants are for community projects that will acquire land for new trails and to build and improve trail infrastructure, according to a release.

The investments will be used in 14 counties to help facilitate travel and provide safe and scenic trails to hike, bike, run or roll and build healthy lifestyles.

Some of the local trails receiving grants include $500,000 to the Miami County Park District, nearly $500,000 to the Village of Camden in Preble County, and $500,000 to the city of Monroe in Butler County.

To date, the Clean Ohio Trails Fund has dedicated over $86.48 million to provide Ohioans with better access to recreational opportunities through the creation of more than 455 miles of trails, read the release.
