New living facility for people working to overcome substance abuse now open in Dayton

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday morning for OneFifteen Living, a place where people who are struggling with addiction and substance abuse can stay.

The new three-story building is located at 257 Hopeland Street in Dayton.

“It is a residential treatment building where we can serve 58 clients when we have it fully open,” Marti Taylor, CEO and President and OneFifteen, said. “[The program includes] all the wrap-around services that one needs to get back on their feet and keep on that journey of recovery but in a sustainable way.”

Taylor told News Center 7′s Katy Andersen the name – OneFifteen – is the number of people who died on average each day in the U.S. from a drug overdose in 2017. That’s the same year Taylor said they came up with the idea to build the new facility.

“We are building it as a learning health system,” Taylor said. “We want to learn what works and what doesn’t work and apply that to each individual in need.”

The first floor includes a living area, counseling rooms, a career center and workout area. The second and third floor consists of more living area, kitchens, and a total of 29 bedrooms, allowing them to serve up to 58 patients at one time.

“So, each of the rooms is a semi-private room, so two individuals in a room, sort of like a dorm-style room,” Taylor explained.

Taylor said patients can be referred by a physician, family member, or they can admit themselves. She said with drug used on the rise because of the pandemic, their mission is more important now than ever.

“There’s other great care that’s happening in this community as well, but as overdoses are, unfortunately, back on the rise, I think having facilities like this is really paramount,” Taylor said.

She said their goal is to bring more hope to people staying on Hopeland Street. “We think of this as a ‘no wrong door approach,’ so anyway someone needs to come into our ecosystem they are welcome to come into the ecosystem.”

OneFifteen Living hopes to start accepting patients later in the fall.
