TROTWOOD — A man found a purse full of money on the side of the road and returned it to its rightful owner, and now the pair met for the first time.
Roy Shackelford, Jr. was outside a Speedway station in Trotwood when he saw a car pulling out with a big bag flying off the roof.
“I was coming out of the Speedway. I saw the car just flying. I said it looks like something is on the back. All the sudden, tumble, tumble, tumble. So, I did a U-turn and said that’s a purse,” Shackelford said.
Without ever looking inside the purse, Roy immediately went to the Trotwood Police Department and turned it in.

He said, “If my grandma was her and she taught me to be a man. It just kicked in – I’m not going to look through nothing. You don’t touch my granny’s purse and you don’t touch my aunt’s purse.”
Inside the purse was more than $1,300 and Theresa Rabb had no idea that it had gone missing. She said, “I just thank God for this man. It was truly a blessing to me. He was truly a blessing.”
Rabb continued by saying, “I realized my purse was gone when the police officer came to my door and asked if my purse was missing.”
The officer returned the purse last Friday. The purse went missing on Thursday. Rabb said that’s when she left her purse on top of her daughter’s car. Neither of them
noticing.
Rabb and Shackelford, Jr. met today for the first time. She said, “A token of my love to you. To let you know how much I appreciate you for doing the right thing.”
Rabb presented Shackleford with a card and a private gift as a thank you.
