It's First Friday time at Austin Landing again, and that means good food, cold drinks and great music! Head out to the Park at Austin Landing on Friday, June 2, starting at 6 p.m. for the June First Friday Food Truck Frenzy.

Local favorite band Spungewurthy will kick off the evening’s entertainment on stage at 6 p.m., followed by headliner Any Way You Want It, a Journey tribute band, beginning at 8 p.m. Between the bands, you’ll be able to watch an American flag skydive performed by Team Fastrax Professional Parachute Demonstration Team over Austin Landing at 7 p.m. Team Fastrax will wrap up the evening with an awesome nighttime pyrotechnic skydive at 9:30 p.m.

As always, the evening's proceeds will go to benefit a local charity. This week's recipient is the Blue Skies for the Good Guys and Gals Warrior Foundation. The mission of the organization is to provide enriching, life-changing experiences that facilitate new friendships and emotional healing for veterans, Purple Heart Warriors, and the families of fallen heroes. Each year, the organization hosts a Warrior Weekend to Remember, a five-day event in July that is filled with activities for the warriors and their families.

Many of the Dayton area’s favorite food trucks will be on hand to keep your tummy happy, too, featuring El Meson, Greek Street, Carvaso’s, Cupzilla Korean BBQ, Pit to Plate BBQ, and many more. Other cool stuff happening includes a Muddy Buddy Jeep Club display, a fan boat display, a corn hole tournament, and raffles.

Tickets for the evening are only $5. Where else can you have this much fun for such a small investment and know that all of it, including proceeds from beer sales, will go to a worthy cause? You can buy tickets online in advance, or you can purchase them at the door. (Cash only for tickets at the door and for food and drinks at the event.) Remember that the event is outdoors, so dress for the weather. Parking is available at the parking garage adjacent to the event area or behind Progress Park Tower.

Grab your lawn chairs or blankets, bring your two- or four-legged kids with you, and head out to Austin Landing for the First Friday of the summer. See you there!
