3 children released from hospital; 2 adults in critical condition after car runs red light

Two people remain hospitalized after a car ran a red light in Xenia Twp. Saturday.

Five people in the 2006 Chrystler Town & Country, including three children, have all been released from the hospital. The three children were taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital for observation.

Officers have not been able to speak to Mavin Pillow, 21, after his vehicle drove through a red light. Pillow and a passenger were both taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. The passenger has not been identified.

Two people are hospitalized in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash Saturday around 8:30 a.m. that sent seven people, including young children, to area hospitals.

The crash happened when a 2003 white Honda Pilot was traveling east on Old U.S. 35 and drove through a red light, striking a silver 2006 Chrysler Town & Country headed south on North Bickett Road, according to the Xenia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Honda, Mavin Pillow, 21, of Wilberforce, and his passenger, who has not been identified, were taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. As of Saturday, the passenger was in critical condition, the patrol said. Pillow is also still in critical condition, according to a Miami Valley Hospital spokesperson.

The driver of the Chrysler, 32-year-old Craig M. Cross and the front seat passenger, 33-year-old Laura J. Cross, both from Cedarville, were taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Children Eliza Cross, 4, Caleb Cross, 2, and Amelia Cross, less than 1 year, all were taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital.

All five occupants of the minivan are either in stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening or have been treated and released from the hospital, Trooper Brandon Williams with OSP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
