Trotwood teen who broke into houses, raped women convicted of crimes

TROTWOOD — The teen who broke into two houses and raped two different women has been convicted of multiple felonies.

William Jones, now 18, was 16-years-old when he broke into the two houses in December 2018.

“The defendant entered a residence in the Salem Village neighborhood through a back door and raped a 24‐year‐old female victim at gunpoint,” prosecutors said. “Just two days later...he entered a different residence, in the same neighborhood, through a window and raped a 34‐year‐old female victim at gunpoint.”

“We really were able to stop a predator here,” said Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck. “Someone who was peeping in windows, crawling around the neighborhood, and then seeing these two difference incidents where someone broke in, had a mask on, with a gun, and then sexually assaulted two different women on two different occasions.”

Trotwood police were able to use DNA evidence found at the crime scenes to identify Jones as the rapist.

Jones will be sentenced at a later date on the charges, which included three counts of rape, four counts of kidnapping, four counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery.

Lucas Wilder, Jones’s attorney, said he will be appealing the conviction.

“I have concerns that he was interviewed twice and his DNA was requested (and collected from him) when he was only 16 years old and without his mother being contacted beforehand.”

He remains in the Montgomery County Jail.
