DAYTON — Sinclair Community College has been awarded $8.5 million in emergency relief funding through the federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund to help provide resources needed to students.
“Many of our students continue to face financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Sinclair’s expanded financial aid efforts are designed to keep students on a path to success,” said Scott Markland, senior vice president for student development.

The funds can be used to cover expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child-care.
Since March of 2020, Sinclair said they have provided more than $16.5 million in HEERF funding to approximately 15,000 students. They have also distributed over 1,000 laptops and other equipment.

Sinclair has also expanded other students services including:
- Free, confidential 24/7 counseling services, a full-time social worker, and a free mental health app.
- On-campus student food pantry, expanded childcare, mobile grocery, mobile health clinic, financial counseling, legal assistance, and medical advocacy services
