Man dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound in Centerville, police say

UPDATE @ 6:20 p.m. (Sept. 24):

A person found dead in a residential area in Centerville died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said today.

Police were called at 10:55 p.m. Saturday to a report of a man down in the roadway on the South Main Street Access Road at Chase Drive.

The victim, a 33-year-old Dayton man, had no identification on him at the time of his death but investigators were able to identify him this morning, Centerville police said.

Police are still investigating a body found in a residential neighborhood in Centerville Saturday.

South Main Street Access Road at Chase Drive was closed after emergency crews were dispatched to the area around 10:50 p.m.

Our News Center 7 crew witnessed a male body on the side of the road on Chase Drive, but police have not provided any information regarding the cause of death or identity.

The roads were closed for about three hours.
