BATH TWP. — UPDATE @ 5:12 p.m.: The resident of a mobile home destroyed by fire this afternoon at the Huber Mobile Home and RV Park has been taken to a hospital because he suffered smoke inhalation, Bethel Twp. Fire Chief Jacob King said.

The male resident told fire crews he was doing work in the bathroom when he smelled smoke. He came out and saw one of the room on fire and immediately evacuated the mobile home, Chief King said. The resident was said to be in stable condition at Miami Valley Hospital, the chief said.

King said Initial reports that people were trapped and multiple mobile homes were burning turned out not to be true, but the reports did prompt the dispatching of crews from New Carlise, Huber Heights, Miami County, Riverside and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The trailer that was burning was fully engulfed when Bethel Twp. arrived, the chief said, and all the crews were able to save mobile homes next to and behind the one that burned to the ground.

The chief said it was too soon to estimate the dollar loss on the structure and contents. The Red Cross was being called to assist the resident, he said.

INITIAL REPORT

Heavy flames and smoke are reportedly coming from a mobile home on Keeler Street in Bath Twp., according to initial emergency dispatch reports.

The fire was reported around 3:45 p.m.

Firefighters on the scene are working to protect neighboring mobile homes, dispatch traffic indicated.

It’s not clear if anyone was at home at the time of the fire or if anyone was injured.
