The Chilean men, Jordan Francisco Sanchez, 22; Alexander Esteban Huaiquil-Chavez, 24; Bastian Alejandro Morales, 23; and Sergio Andres Cabello, 38, were caught almost two weeks ago with items believed to be stolen from a Hamilton County home on the same day as Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s Hamilton County home was broken into.

The investigation is an Ohio Attorney General’s case. Dave Yost put a task force together after a number of burglaries at multimillion-dollar homes.

The four men were stopped by Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers in Clark County on Jan. 10. Their cases require a translator, which created a big problem in court on Thursday.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, a Clark County public defender told a judge he needed Spanish-speaking interpreters to properly defend the four men. There was no interpreter in court, so the judge decided he would not move forward.

“I will continue this hearing and we will arrange to have an interpreter,” Judge Brian Driscoll said.

While they were not arraigned on their charges of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, participating in a criminal gang, and possessing criminal tools, all four had their bond set at $250,000.

As News Center 7 reported Tuesday, the state troopers pulled the men over on Interstate 70 on Jan. 10.

During a search of the SUV, an LSU shirt and a Cincinnati Bengals hat were found. They’re believed to be stolen during a burglary in Hamilton County on December 9, 2024. While they have not confirmed if these men are connected to the burglary at Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s home, he did attend LSU and his Hamilton County home was broken into on December 9, 2024, according to a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office report.

Body camera video of troopers searching the SUV showed them find a tool used to break into homes inside a hidden compartment inside the glove box.

A special agent working the case recognized Morales as a person possibly involved in a Hamilton County burglary on Dec. 9, according to a probable cause affidavit. Two days after the burglary, Morales was allegedly seen on surveillance video at a McDonald’s in Miami, Florida exiting a Volkswagen Atlas known to be in the area of the burglary on Dec. 9.

Chavez was also seen walking out of the La Quinta Hotel in Fairborn on Jan. 10 with a duffle bag similar to one also seen exiting that Volkswagen Atlas in Miami on Dec. 11.

After being taken into custody, three of the four men allegedly lied about their identities again and told investigators they were in Ohio “for vacation to see the snow.”

All four men remain booked in the Clark County Jail.

Investigators say the four men arrested are in the U.S. illegally and that, as a result of that, on top of the criminal charges against them, they’re also facing possible deportation.

News Center 7 reached out to the Attorney General’s Office who could not confirm if these suspects are directly connected to the break-in at Burrow’s house.
