Local school districts to dismiss early amid heat wave

MIAMI VALLEY — Local school districts have announced they will be dismissing early this week due to extreme heat.

Broadway Elementary and L.T. Ball Intermediate School in Tipp City will release early on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday due to no air conditioning in the elementary school.

Broadway Elementary will dismiss at 1:15 pm., and L.T. Ball Intermediate will dismiss at 1:20 p.m. due to their bus schedules being connected.

Troy City Schools announced that they will dismiss two hours early on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This will also apply to Upper Valley Career Center students who go to Troy High School.

The district said it has not yet decided about Thursday but will continue to monitor the forecast.

The district decided because its brick buildings retain heat and windows must stay shut for security reasons.

Southeastern Local Schools has also announced it will dismiss two hours early on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday due to heat.

Celina High School students in grades 9-12 will be released two hours early Tuesday and Wednesday.
