Fireworks seized from Greene County property

XENIA — UPDATE @ 8:34 a.m.:

The State Fire Marshal’s office seized fireworks from a farm property outside of Xenia Twp. Friday evening.

Law enforcement arrived on scene of the property on the 2300 block of Jasper Road after 6:00 p.m., and any fireworks deemed dangerous or illegal were seized.

The Dayton bomb squad was also called to the scene to ensure there was nothing that couldn’t be moved safely.

The property owner was in the middle of hosting a Fourth of July social gathering and the property was told that their gathering could continue so long as the fireworks were seized.

A neighbor told News Center 7 that the property owner had previously put on a fireworks show, with the assistance of a trained pyrotechnic professional, for the past seven years.

The property owner has not been charged at this time.

Law enforcement in Xenia are currently on scene, investigating a fireworks complaint, police confirm.

Our crew is on scene and reports that the Dayton Bomb Squad is also on scene of the residence on the 2300 block of Jasper Road.
