GPS tracker helps police pinpoint Huber Heights AT&T robbery suspects

HUBER HEIGHTS — A 9-1-1 call from Thursday’s robbery at the Huber Heights AT&T store on Old Troy Pike revealed a GPS tracker assisted police in their pursuit to find the suspects.

Officers responded to the AT&T store around 2 p.m. after the armed suspects barged into the business with guns and forced employees and a customer to the floor while they stole cell phones from a store safe.

“They had us pinned to the ground.  I had to open the safe for them and they took everything,” the worker who called police after the robbery happened said.  “They had a gun pointed at me.”

The bag of stolen items contained the GPS tracker and that enabled dispatchers to guide police to the suspects and their vehicle location.

In the 9-1-1 call, you can hear the dispatcher tell a cell phone store worker, “we also have them tracking the vehicles.”

Officers eventually located the suspect vehicle crashed in the area of Longford and Harshmanville roads and the suspect’s fled on foot, but were eventually captured.

The person who called 9-1-1 told the dispatcher four employees and a customer were inside the store during the armed robbery.

“Everybody is OK, including the customer,” the worker said.  “They just came right in with guns.”
