Family of Middletown woman whose remains were found holds funeral, balloon release

The family of a Middletown woman were finally able to lay her to rest at a funeral Saturday. Dozens of balloons were also released for her after the funeral.

Michelle Burgan disappeared in May 2017, and her remains were found three months ago.

News Center 7's James Buechele talked with the Burgan's family at the balloon release.

Allie Fisher, one of Burgan’s four daughters, said her mom cared for everyone.

“Our mom was not only a mother, but a daughter, a grandmother, a sister and a friend of many,” she said. “She was a great mother, she was full of life, always kind to those around her.”

Burgan’s remains were found at a Moraine home in September, and she was identified two months later.

“But for 17 months, our mother laid in a shallow grave with dirt and rocks, away from her family who was crazed with worry,” said Fisher.

The property owner, Gilbert Revere, was arrested shortly after Burgan’s remains were identified. He’s charged with several crimes including gross abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and failure to report a death.

The sisters want anyone who might have information to come forward to the police to help their mom’s case.
