- Fatality identified as Cammie Laird, 66
- Crash at Old Dayton, Johnsville-Brookville roads
- Laird failed to yield at stop sign, troopers said
A Dayton woman killed in a T-bone crash Thursday evening in Perry Twp. was identified as 66-year-old Cammie Laird by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
She was driving a white 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo east on Old Dayton Road around 5:15 p.m. when she failed to yield at the intersection of Johnsville Brookville Road and traveled into the path of a red 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer.
“The white car pulled out from the stop sign into the path of the SUV, obviously they collided. The driver of the white car was killed at the scene,” Sgt. Chris Colbert of the patrol’s Dayton Post said at the scene.
The Trail Blazer collided with the Monte Carlo and traveled off the left side of the road and overturned. The driver, 53-year-old Diane Marlow of Brookville, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.
The Monte Carlo also went off the left side of the road. Laird was pronounced dead at the scene. A 10-year-old girl riding in her car was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The roadway has a 55 mph speed limit, and Colbert said there is no reason to believe that excessive speed is involved, nor that drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash.
The Perry Twp. Police Department assisted at the scene.
