SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Health and Fitness has drafted a proposal a proposal to Governor DeWine about its intentions to reopen after the stay at home order expires.
Co-owner Alexis Fourman said shutting the gym’s doors was a shock to her small business, and as a result she had to layoff her staff of eight.
Fourman has used the time away to talk with others in the fitness industry and about how to reopen a business like hers.
“It really allowed me, and that was about two weeks ago, to start that plan of what are we going to do when we open," said Fourman.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is allowing gyms to reopen on Friday.
“Given the favorable data, enhanced testing and approval of our healthcare professionals, we will will allow gyms, fitness centers, bowling alleys," said Kemp.
Governor DeWine has not released hard plans for how Ohio’s economy reopened, but Fourman as drafted a proposal to his office outlining her plan to reopen and follow CDC guidelines.
“Members are probably going to have to sign up for a time slot to come in so I don’t have to actually turn someone away or a bunch of people away when we hit that peak time,” exlained Fourman.
She said her proposal to the governor includes limiting the amount of people at once and monitoring it hourly, cutting back on class sizes, and an extra emphasis on sanitizing her equipment for staff and members.
