CompuNet surpasses 250,000 COVID-19 tests since pandemic began

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — CompuNet Clinical Laboratories surpassed doing more than 250,000 COVID-19 tests since it first started testing Miami Valley residents in March when the pandemic first started impacting the region.

Across the state, over 7.5 million COVID-19 tests have been reported to the Ohio Department of Health.

CompuNet began providing testing in hospitals and also in partnership with Premier Health and the University of Dayton at the drive-thru testing site at UD Arena. The location eventually moved to the OnMain location across from Miami Valley Hospital on South Main Street.

“It was absolutely critical to minimize the number of patients with COVID-19-like symptoms who were coming into physician offices, hospitals, and other health-care settings to seek testing,” said Teresa Williams, chief operating officer of CompuNet. “This drive-through site helped to minimize the spread of the virus and to conserve precious personal protective equipment supplies in health care settings, especially in the early days of the pandemic.”

As testing needs expanded CompuNet expanded its collection sites from one to eleven.

The CompuNet laboratory has conducted nearly 265,000 COVID-19 tests, which is the equivalent of more than one COVID-19 test per five residents in the five Dayton-area counties where the company has patient service centers. Those counties include Montgomery, Miami, Clark, Greene and Warren.
