City of Huber Heights to buy neglected shopping center

The city of Huber Heights has plans to buy and revitalize a shopping center that has sat empty for nearly a decade.

Rebecca Paoli of Ohio Custom Design Tattoo & Piercing believes the city buying the property is a good thing, a sign they want to invest and make improvements.

"This is my home and I would love to see it prosper," Paoli told News Center 7’s Ronnell Hunt.

Huber Heights City Manager Rob Schommer said purchasing the Marion Shopping Center falls into the city's transformation economical development program.

On Monday the city council will be voting to purchase the the shopping center.

The city council plans to bring life back to parts of Huber Heights through their Brandt Pike Revitalization Study.
