Police need help finding Vandalia robber wearing camo

VANDALIA — Vandalia police are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman that robbed a Speedway Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, the robber entered the convenience store at 830 East National Road around 1 a.m., and handed the clerk a note demanding money.

The woman did not display a weapon and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say the woman fled on foot towards Waller Avenue, but may have picked up in a vehicle.

The robber is described as a female, possibly in her mid 20s or 30s, who was wearing a camouflage jacket.

The clerk was not injured in the robbery, which was captured by the store’s surveillance cameras, officials say.

A K-9 unit was called to assist in the search for the woman, but was not successful.
