Armed man covers face with scarf to rob CashMax in Trotwood

TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 4:30 p.m.

A man covered his face with a scarf when he showed a handgun this morning and demanded money from CashMax cash advance store in Trotwood.

The robber, wearing dark-colored clothing and a light-colored knit cap, fled with an unknown amount of cash on foot.

Staff reported the robbery around 11:10 a.m. at the business, 4791 Salem Ave.

A K-9 unit from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office tried to track the suspect but did not find him, according to Trotwood police.

An hour and a half later, police in Riverside were called to an armed robbery at another cash advance store.

The suspect in the Check-into-Cash robbery, reported at 12:40 p.m. at 170 Woodman Ave., did not show a weapon. He was only described as a man. Riverside police said it was not certain whether the robberies were linked.

Officers were dispatched to the cash advances business at 4791 Salem Ave. around 11:10 a.m. after employees reported the robbery.

Initial reports indicate a man entered the store and displayed a handgun before fleeing the scene on foot. A K9 officer has responded to attempt to track the suspect, according to police scanner traffic.

This was the first of two robberies today of cash advance businesses

A Riverside Check-into-Cash was robbed this afternoon. Riverside police said it was not known whether the robberies are connected.
