Coronavirus: Kroger Health to offer drive-thru testing

KETTERING — UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m.: Kroger Health will be offering drive-thru testing through the end of May for those exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

Any person who is exhibiting symptoms can get a test. In addition, all health care providers and first responders can get tested whether or not they are exhibiting symptoms.

Those interested in getting tested can register at http://krogerhealth.com/covidtesting. A virtual screening tool will determine an individual’s eligibility to be tested. The tool is based off the CDC’s guidelines, according to the release. Once determined eligible, individuals can select a testing location and time.

The drive-thru test is a self-administered nasal swab, which will increase the number of tests that can be performed while conserving PPE.

Kroger Health anticipates handling 330 tests per day, with results expected within 48 hours.

“This work, like all the work we do, is guided by our values and Our Promise to Feed the Human Spirit,” said Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health.

“As we continue to create partnerships that offer easy-to-access testing, we are proud of our commitment to serving our customers and our communities," she said. "Kroger and The Little Clinic will donate all professional services at the drive-thru testing facilities, including orders and observing the COVID-19 test.”

Kettering resident Amanda Hampton is happy to learn about the test site.

“I’m definitely glad that there are more resources for people, especially for the people who can’t afford the testing and stuff,” she told News Center 7′s Monica Castro on Wednesday night.

The first testing site is in the Kettering College parking lot on the Kettering Medical Center campus. Kroger Health has similar test sites in Tennessee and Kentucky. The Kettering site is the only one in Ohio.

Testing is set for April 23 through April 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
