The shipment arrived in Cincinnati from Ontario, Canada Saturday and were discovered by a narcotic detection K-9, a spokesperson for the U.S. Customs agency said in a news release Tuesday.

The dog, named Bruno, alerted to a shipment of 12 dehumidifiers which prompted agents to inspect. Vacuum-sealed bags with marijuana were found in each shipment and would later total to 413 pounds of marijuana, the spokesperson said.

The estimated street value of the drugs was valued at $1.10 million, the spokesperson said. The shipment of dehumidifiers were heading to a company based in Great Britain, the spokesperson said.

“CBP enforces the laws of the United States and U.S. laws have not changed even though marijuana is legal in Canada. Although medical and recreational marijuana is legal in Canada, the sale, possession, production, and distribution of marijuana is illegal under U.S. Federal Law,” the spokesperson said in the media release.

“Our canine teams are an invaluable asset to the CBP enforcement strategy. These interdictions are a testament to the hard work, dedication and training these teams employ on a daily basis protecting America,” LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, Director of CBP Field Operations-Chicago Field Office said in the release.
